Day 1 – At 9 am, we leave Arusha for the Machame Gate (6-7 hour hike, elevation gain 3,935 feet)
Day 2 – Machame Camp to Shira Camp (6-8 hour hike, elevation gain 2,760 feet)
Day 3 – Shira Camp to Barranco Camp (6-8 hour hike, elevation gain 2,264 feet)
Day 4 – Barranco Camp to Karanga Valley (3-5 hour hike, elevation gain 820 feet)
Day 5 – Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp (3-4 hour hike, elevation gain 1,320 feet)
Day 6 – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (6-7 hour hike to the rim, 1 hour to Uhuru, 3-4 hour hike back to Barafu Camp, 4 hour down to Mweka Camp, elevation gain 4,240, elevation loss 9,170 feet). This is the most challenging part of the climb. Climb to the peak begins at midnight.
Day 7 – Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate (4 hour hike, elevation loss 5,250 feet)
