A story of hope
Smile Africa stands as one of Project Change’s greatest success stories — and the very first project we ever launched. What began as a simple donation to help a young man named Robert build a small shelter for children to learn out of the hot sun soon blossomed into a powerful movement of education, community, and hope.
From one humble classroom, Smile Africa grew to five, then ten — and today it is a thriving elementary school serving over 300 children, along with a group home for more than 100 children who now have a safe place to call home.
As donors around the world fell in love with the project, the vision expanded. Recognizing the deep needs of the community, supporters built a library, then a hospital — the first of its kind in the area. Today, Smile Africa is completely self-sufficient, sustained by its own farm that produces food for the children and the local community.

The transformation didn’t stop there. Project Change helped train teachers and partnered with local educators, including Ms. Carmella from Creative Child in Plantation, Florida, to develop a custom curriculum designed for the unique environment and resources available.
What began as one man’s dream to teach under a tree has become a living testament to what’s possible when compassion meets action. The ripple effect of Smile Africa continues to grow — inspiring countless others to believe in the power of community-driven change.
