Lioness Project
Our Mission
The Lioness Project empowers girls and young women aged 14 and older who face forced marriage, exploitation, or a life without opportunity. We give them:
Safe housing and protection – a secure refuge where they are no longer at risk of being sold or enslaved.
Education – teaching literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking to girls who have never stepped inside a classroom.
Vocational skills – training in sewing, bread-making, yogurt production, soap crafting, and other trades that turn learners into income earners.
A future – the tools, confidence, and independence to break the cycle of poverty forever.

Our Journey
In 2015, our project manager, Carol, launched a movement of change in one of the poorest rural regions on earth. With radio as the only reliable way to reach remote villages, we broadcast a simple message: “There is another way.”
Desperate girls heard us. Many had already been offered for marriage at tender ages. Our first class began on rented land. Carol hired teachers and started dual training:
Morning: Reading, writing, and basic math.
Afternoon: Hands-on skills – baking bread, making yogurt, sewing clothes.
What started small has grown into a thriving trade school that now houses and educates over 100 girls of all ages.
A Pillar of the Community
The Lioness Project is no longer just a shelter – it’s a beacon of hope.
We’ve seen it firsthand: Empower one girl, and you transform an entire community.
Former students now:
Run small bakeries and tailor shops
Support their families
Return as mentors to guide the next generation
Success stories are no longer rare – they are the norm.
We're Growing - And So Are Our Needs
More girls arrive every month, each with a story of escape and a dream of a better life. To keep our doors open and our impact strong, we urgently need:
Additional classrooms and dormitories
Secure fencing to protect the campus
Seeds, food supplies, and medical equipment
Funds for teacher salaries and learning materials
Sponsor a girl and give her a full year of safety, education, and skill-building. Or make a one-time gift to help us build, feed, and heal.
Every donation – big or small – writes the next chapter of hope.
